salad shaker

Ingredients

  • 1 head of lettuce
  • 1 large tomato
  • 2 ounces low-fat cheese
  • 4 ounces low-fat luncheon meat
  • 1 cup whole grain croutons
  • 2 hard boiled eggs
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing
  • 1 carrot
  • 1/2 cup kidney beans

Materials

  • Medium bowl
  • Cutting board
  • Knife
  • Forks
  • Cheese grater
  • Measuring spoons
  • Measuring cups
  • Wax paper
  • Large cups with plastic wrap or tinfoil lids, or large zippered plastic bags

Directions

  1. Wash hands.
  2. Wash vegetables and pat dry.
  3. Shred lettuce and set aside.
  4. Dice tomato and set aside.
  5. Shred carrot and set aside..
  6. Dice egg and set aside.
  7. Shred cheese and set aside.
  8. Dice meat and set aside.
  9. Open can, set beans aside. Rinse and recycle can.
  10. Each person should assemble a salad in a large cup or bag, using:
  • 1/4 of lettuce
  • 1/4 of tomato
  • 2 tablespoons of carrot
  • 1 tablespoon egg
  • 1 tablespoon cheese
  • 2 tablespoons meat
  • 1/4 cup croutons, and
  • 2 tablespoons beans
  • Top with 2 tablespoons of dressing.
  • If using cup, top with plastic wrap or tin foil. If using bag, seal closed.
  • Shake until dressing is evenly distributed.
  • Refrigerate leftovers for up to 4 days.
